I feel like the Karate Kid

It's been a while since I've seen the Karate Kid but I vaguely remember a scene where he has to paint something. Using a paintbrush he goes up and down over and over....anyone with me? Well, to say I feel like that lately is an understatement. As you might know, my husband and I had the bright idea to paint about 5 rooms in our new house prior to actually moving in.

No problem, piece of cake.....

Ha-
ha-
ha...

Soooooo not the case. And we've only finished 1 room!! The biggest room, according to my husband that is, took 2 gallons of "Rye" Behr brand paint and 2 evenings of our week. I'm exhausted and I have several globs of paint on my nails, legs, and feet that no amount of scrubbing could get off. The room looks nice but since it's empty I keep second guessing myself that the color is a good choice without being too blah. As a woman, you how this blah feeling can really ruin your decor.

If you've never painted, I can assure you, choosing from the hundreds of paint colors can be overwhelming. Just ask Scott. He can attest to that fact as I've painted 5 different squares of varying shades of brown on the wall in the office. Besides being too dark, pink, red, and green, there is really nothing wrong with any of them. None just feel right yet. We might have found a winner last night but I need to check it out during the daylight hours....will keep you posted.

-Until the next painting adventure....

Very busy weekend

I had an extremely busy weekend and I'm exhausted!!!

Here is a list of things Scott and I finished:
  • Cleaned fridge/freezer
  • Wiped down all cabinets, baseboards, and windows
  • Sprayed for potential bugs inside and outside
  • Removed all switch plates and blinds in the rooms we are painting
  • Picked up a mattress/box-spring set
  • Moved everything out of the storage rental
  • Delivered a washer/dryer to my sister
  • Taped off all the rooms we plan to paint with Barbara's help thank goodness

We still have so much to do but we were productive for sure!!!

Do I know you?

Apparently I have a very familiar face that causes people to rack through their brains as to how they MUST know me. Almost always of course, I do not know the person. In the past month I was asked by 3 different people at various locations if we had met previously. I smiled politely said no, not that I can remember. Of course in order to avoid further questioning, I make a joke about how I must have a twin that leads a parallel life to me. Normally that does the trick... Another story, another blog.

So please, if you see my twin, please ask her if you know her from somewhere so she doesn't miss out on the chances to answer questions like that from strangers.

Parking PSA

Just a friendly Parking PSA:

The lines indicating each spot to park in are NOT a suggestion. The lines are there to indicate to the driver to park in BETWEEN each line.

You're welcome.

How did that happen?

Do you ever drive somewhere and wonder how you got there? As in, you are suddenly at your destination and don't recall anything about the drive there. Well, that happens to me a lot, but it's happened every morning this week so far. So either my commute is on auto-pilot after 3 years OR I need more sleep. I won't even say I think it could also be that I talk on my cell phone....

Blessings

I often forget just how blessed I am. Don't we all? From the little blessings to the really big ones...I take them for granted most of the time. How do I quit doing that? I mean, I don't want to be that person that is consistently wishing for things that my neighbor has, I want to be happy with what I have! Maybe it's a learned trait that requires immense practice and I simply have not had enough practice at the young age of 27? :)

Whatever the reason, I read 2 sayings that I try to remember when I'm having the "Jones Syndrome".
  • The grass is always greener on the other side...but that's because they water it.
  • If everyone laid out their problems on the table, you'd almost always take yours back.

I will pray to keep being reminded of the blessings I do have and not covet my neighbor's blessings.
